A retaining wall has one job: hold ground back and stay put. Whether it does that for thirty years or starts leaning in three comes down to what you can’t see — the compacted base under the first course and the drainage behind the wall.
We build both block and natural rock walls. Terracing for sloped yards, walls along driveways, raised planting beds, and rock borders that keep grade where it belongs. Every wall gets a real excavated base, level courses, and gravel backfill so water drains instead of pushing.

FAQs
Almost always the same two shortcuts — a weak base and no drainage. Water builds up behind the wall and pushes it over a little more every winter. We build the base and the drainage right so that doesn't happen.
Block walls are uniform, engineered, and usually cost less per foot. Natural rock looks like it belongs in this valley and handles curves well. It comes down to the slope, the budget, and the look you want.
Common landscape walls — terracing beds, holding back a slope along a driveway — are typically under four feet. Walls taller than that get into engineering and permit territory, and Rylan will tell you honestly if your project does.
